In the Beginning…Culinary Crossing Dog Food
In 1996 I became a new mom to a Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier puppy named Derbeigh. Derbeigh became very ill not long after her second
birthday. After many visits to the veterinarian, the top Veterinary Hospital in the country, and to the bank, I was told Derbeigh was allergic
to life! The veterinarian told me my options were to either move to the desert or put her in an aquarium (yes, he really said that!) I was not
going to have her euthanized without trying my best to make her healthy again. Derbeigh went through a lot of allergy
testing and I started doing a lot of research, primarily on pet foods, to see if I could eliminate some of her worst allergies from her diet. I am
a Chef and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and had established Culinary Crossing in 1990, making high quality fresh soups,
with no added salt or preservatives for restaurants, grocery stores and franchise organizations located around the United
States. I was very familiar with nutritional programs, having used them for our different product lines. My finding in regards to pet foods,
the manufacturing practices, lack of nutrition, ingredients, rendered by-products and chemicals was horrifying to say the least! After much
research, I started making Derbeigh’s food from fresh ingredients, many of them the same ingredients I used for myself. Derbeigh lived to be
almost 10, and it’s from her years as my official taste tester that Culinary Crossing brings to you our best food for your best friend, produced
right here in our USDA inspected facility. -Cheri Morrison, Owner of Culinary Crossing
Why we are different:
Culinary Crossing Dog Food contains the highest quality fresh ingredients. All of our pet food varieties are cooked just enough to kill the
bacteria and break down some of the outside fibers of the vegetables so they are gentler to a dog’s digestive system. Our foods are not
overcooked and retain their excellent nutritional value. No need to worry about salmonella and E-coli that may be found in a raw food
diet. The same sanitation, cooking, temperature and chilling practices are followed for our dog foods as are required for people food. With
this process we are able to obtain a shelf life in your refrigerator without using any preservatives. No preservatives and no chemicals added.
No corn or wheat fillers and no by-products! We stand behind our recipes and taste test each batch before it is packaged.
Package sizes…plain and simple…
All of Culinary Crossing Fresh Dog Foods are available in a variety of sizes.
1 lb. Resealable tub
4 lb. Boil type pouch
8 lb. Boil type pouch
The material these pouches are made of is specifically designed to prevent the introduction of and inhibit the growth of bacteria. They are
freezable and durable. Our labels are straight forward and clear. Our foods are high quality and healthy and don’t need fancy packaging.
Packaging won’t change what our quality will do for your dog.
All of our recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient profiles for Adult Maintenance.
In addition to the natural and nutritious ingredients there are vitamin supplements added to each variety to create good balance and meet
the nutritional requirements to keep your dog strong and healthy.
Feeding Requirements:
Each of our varieties is labeled specifically for the weight of a dog. The amount of food your dog requires depends on age and activity level.
Adjust feeding levels necessary to maintain ideal weight. A dog has a very sensitive digestive system and it is important when starting a new
food program to make it a gradual transition. Too much food and too much of a different food can create serious discomfort for your
dog. If you are presently feeding an all kibble diet, give your dog a little less kibble mixed with a little of the new fresh food (not the
recommended amount). Each day add a little more of the fresh to a little less of the kibble. We recommend ¼ of the recommended calorie
intake come from a kibble so your dog’s teeth and gums are still getting the chewing and crunching that helps keep them clean and healthy.
In addition, make sure your dog always has plenty of fresh water available.
We’ve noticed and we hope you will too…finicky eaters will look forward to meal time with Culinary Crossing Fresh Dog Foods!
